Des Moines Gay Men's Chorus to Make National TV Debut on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'

In a major milestone event, the Des Moines Gay Men's Chorus (DMGMC) will make its debut on the nationally televised "Kelly Clarkson Show" this Friday. The Iowa-based chorus will present a special concert honoring the former American Idol winner and talk show host Kelly Clarkson.

Eric Shepard, DMGMC's Artistic Director and Conductor, shared the choir's joy at being invited to participate in the program and explained why they chose to focus on the music of Kelly Clarkson, whose music, Shepard said, touches the heart and tells stories of joy, heartache, love and friendship, which is a perfect fit with DMGMC's mission to promote harmony, ignite the heart, and move the mind. Since taking over the choir in 2022, Shepard has been committed to planning concerts that resonate with the diversity of experiences within the LGBTQ+ community. He believes that through music, the chorus can represent the arts and diversity of Des Moines and the entire state of Iowa.

In addition to the national television appearances, DMGMC will host two concerts in Des Moines called "Kelly: We All Need an Icon," a "glamorous" tribute to Kelly Clarkson.
