Over de 17e Parade
Laten we goede buren voor elkaar zijn
De LGBT-beweging in Taiwan is al tientallen jaren aan de gang en tegenwoordig zijn er niet alleen steeds meer LGBT-verhalen in de media, maar verschijnen er ook steeds vaker waargebeurde verhalen van LGBT-mensen in online gemeenschappen en zien we steeds meer LGBT-mensen opduiken op allerlei plaatsen in Taiwan.
Bij het referendum eind vorig jaar kwamen veel mensen uit de kast voor mensenrechten en gelijkheid, en gebruikten zij hun eigen verhalen om meer mensen te laten begrijpen waarom voorlichting over gendergelijkheid en huwelijkgelijkheid belangrijk zijn; deze optredens waren niet alleen van homoseksuele personen en homoseksuele vrienden en familieleden, maar ook van veel heteroseksuele bondgenoten in het land die naar voren kwamen om hun steun aan homoseksuele mensen te betuigen.
Ze zijn allemaal "Gay Alley".
Al 16 jaar lang heeft de Taiwan LGBTQ Tour elk jaar een ander thema, maar wat hetzelfde blijft, is dat het altijd een platform is voor de uiting van LGBTQ-kwesties en dat alle verschillende mensen welkom zijn.
Dit jaar is het thema van het evenement voor het zeventiende jaar "Good Neighbourhoods for LGBTQ People". Kwesties als langdurige zorg voor ouderen, de-stigmatisering van aids, seksuele voorlichting, gelijkheid op de werkplek, gelijke rechten in het huwelijk, gelijke rechten voor barrières, legalisering van sekswerk, aboriginals en nieuwe aboriginals, en overgangsjustitie zijn allemaal belangrijke kwesties voor ons in de LGBT-gemeenschap om ons om te bekommeren, elkaar te begrijpen en elkaar te steunen. In Taiwan zijn diversiteit, tolerantie en harmonie de menselijke en sociale waarden die het leven zo waardevol maken. We zijn allemaal "goede buren" die samen kunnen leven, en Taiwan zal een "goede buurt" voor de wereld worden vanwege zijn geluk en algemeen welzijn.
Dit jaar is het eerste jaar van het homohuwelijk in Taiwan, maar de homobeweging is nog niet voorbij, want discriminatie en onbegrip zijn nog niet verdwenen. Terwijl de zon op ons schijnt, mogen we niet vergeten dat er nog steeds schaduwen achter ons zijn. Als we bereid zijn ons te laten zien, zullen onze verhalen meer begrip en verandering brengen in de Taiwanese samenleving.
