Let's have fun together-Break the "fake friendliness", you and I will support our freedom

[Break ○○ Fake Friendly]

Over the years, many sex/gender groups have continued to work hard on different issues, making sex/gender issues more and more diverse, and increasing exposure and discussion.1(In the future, it is no longer unattainable for the "sexually diverse community" to obtain resources and identify themselves. However, while society is shouting "see diversity, accept differences" and "so what if they are different", sex/gender discriminatory attitudes continue to emerge, such as the dismissal of long-haired police officer Ji-Yuan Yeh for challenging the binary gender image, and the suggestion by Olympic national athlete Shu-Jin Hsu to "put her skirt back on" by a male anchor. The "friendly" words "for your own good" are wrapped in subtle and invisible discrimination, making people wonder if the gradual opening of the social atmosphere is just an illusion.

Since the Gender Equality Education Act (2004) and the Gender Equality at Work Act (2008) brought gender, sexual orientation, gender temperament, and gender identity into the scope of legal protection, sexually diverse communities have been given institutional tools of defense in the educational and workplace settings. Are the enforcement and supporting measures adequate? All of these require ongoing dialogue and revision.

The law can provide a set of criteria to regulate and deter blatant discrimination, but it cannot replace education, dialogue and understanding. On the contrary, it may limit the space for interpersonal interaction and discussion, and it is easy for people to simplify their thinking and only care about how to avoid attacks or convictions, such as "I respect my transgender friends, but I am afraid to go to the bathroom with them" or "I respect gay people, but they cannot break family traditions. Although "friendliness" is the starting point, it actually implies discrimination, not seeing the real life experiences and situations of the sexually diverse community, but making discrimination more subtle and unconscious.

Breaking the "fake friendliness" is the first and foremost task to support the self-space. But how to break it? How can we prevent ourselves from becoming accomplices to discrimination? Only by promoting dialogue between various issues and communities, by recognizing differences, and by deepening empathy, can we go beyond the lip service of fake friendliness.

[Support you and I are really comfortable]

As long as we are a part of society, all social issues are relevant to you and me.

When people don't understand AIDS, when they take the posture of "isolation" and "out of sight, out of mind", and when they even associate AIDS with various sexual stigmas, fear becomes an anxiety.2.Therefore, some stores posted a notice that "all dishes in the store are washed by people infected with AIDS".3, , ,In addition to calling on more people to reflect on the stigma of AIDS, the over-connectedness of the gay community, and intimidation education, we also hope to convey the idea that "people infected with AIDS are our family members, partners, colleagues, teachers, and classmates.

When we connect with the physically and mentally challenged community and see the real needs and difficulties of people with different disabilities, we can understand the culture and self-advocacy of people with disabilities.4, , ,It is not just a charity mentality to give out resources. While society has always ignored the autonomy of people with disabilities and refused to imagine their sexuality and ability to live independently, the emergence of "Hand Angel" provides sexual services and companionship for people with severe disabilities, breaking the stereotype that people with disabilities are "sexless" and supporting the sexual rights of people with disabilities.5.

As sexuality/gender issues become more diverse and open, sexual diversity communities will be able to come out and show up in their own comfort zone, but as long as unkindness and pseudo-kindness persist, the underage, the remote, and the economically inaccessible - those sexual diversity communities that lack resources - will remain invisible. Being present is not the only way to campaign, but if you and I can make some space in our lives in whatever way we can: from a single word, to a news discussion, to a chain of resistance, any form of expression is a meaningful accumulation. You and I are not alone. When we connect and support each other, and together we "support" a friendly environment, everyone can be more comfortable and not struggle with being present or not.

[Diversity together FUN out]

Friendship is just the starting point. There are still so many people suffering in life. Why must individual sexual freedom be subject to state control and moral censorship? We have seen the government invest a lot of resources in replacing "two genders" with "gender diversity," but a literal conversion does not cover up the vagueness of the policy. We do not want "fake friendliness" without any real rights and actions; we also reject the inequality of segregation, whether it is the differential treatment of the marital system, the harassment of clinical examination in the erotic space, or the "out of sight, out of mind" of people with physical and mental disabilities or HIV. Are you able to distinguish between the fake friendliness of the state and society?

The annual LGBT march hopes to liberate sexually diverse communities of all ages, barriers, classes, religions, ethnic groups, and political orientations from the heavy burden of false friendliness. We fight against injustice and see each other who are still hurt in the sire bond. When we make space for dialogue and healing, we will be more free to explore and "play" with the meaning and beauty of our own lives. Those who showed up in the march showed their unique posture; those who continued to pay attention to various issues and took action made dissent blossom everywhere; the LGBT march was not only for "supporting" ourselves, but also for those who could not show up. I hope that society will face up to the "fake friendliness", so that not only the sexually diverse community can enjoy the freedom on the day of the march, but also have fun every day of their lives! Note

  1. The LGBTIQA community refers to all non-heterosexual people, abbreviated as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, or Questioning; and Asexual or Ally. Questioning); Asexual or Ally.
  2. Anxiety is a condition where the person is so preoccupied with their physical condition and panic about their imagined illness that it is difficult to change or talk about it. Some people who are being screened for AIDS have become anxious because of the severe stigma attached to the disease in society. This is used for people who have a serious fear of the disease because they do not understand it. Please refer to:〈Kafei: anxiety, contamination, infection, so what?
  3. "H*our's Café's announcement of "Asking infected people to wash their dishes" triggered a debate among netizens. Full text of the statement
  4. This year, the National Concert Hall and Drama Hall, a landmark national performance venue, underwent its first interior renovation in 30 years, without taking into account the increase and improvement of wheelchair and barrier-free seats, although officials claim that they are "working to make improvements year by year without violating the law," but in fact, the "cultural equality" needs of people with physical disabilities are excluded. Even though there are laws such as the Design Guidelines for Barrier-Free Facilities in Buildings, they have not been implemented for a long time - the theater has over 1,500 seats, but only 5 accessible seats, far less than the 12 seats regulated by the Law for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Physical and Mental Disabilities; the concert hall has over 2,000 seats, but only 6 wheelchair seats. Whenever people with disabilities encounter their favorite performances, they can only accept the seats with poor visibility, "banished to the border", or simply give up watching. See:〈National Theatre renovation, forget the barrier-free seats? ;;Are the two halls barrier-free yet? Voicemail NotepadIn addition, the "Welfare Hall for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped" under the responsibility of the Social Bureau of Taipei City Government was just completed this year. In addition, the "Welfare Hall for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped", which is under the responsibility of the Social Bureau of Taipei City Government, was just completed this year, and physically handicapped people and groups were invited to visit the new building, but the overall hardware and facilities are full of obstacles, and without the assistance of regular people, physically handicapped people can hardly use the building freely.(Inappropriate spatial settings force us to become dysfunctional dependents)In fact, government agencies often set up regulations but fail to implement them in terms of policy and space. In fact, government agencies often set up regulations in vain but fail to implement them in terms of policy and space settings, such as the "remove roadblocks" campaign that has been going on in various corners of Taiwan since 2014, see:(Removing Roadblocks, Returning Human Rights to Me)

Observation of leave-friendly activities

I. "Photo" out of the fake friendly, you and I together!

Our environment is filled with all kinds of "fake friendly" words that are "for your own good". What is wrapped up inside is not only subtle and invisible discrimination, but also a kind of self-righteous and false acceptance, without seeing the real life experience and situation of the LGBTIQA community. It is physically and emotionally exhausting and scarring. There are too many fake friendly words in our society to keep track of, so here are nine classic quotes for us to put into action, to "shine a light" on fake friendliness, to show our refusal to accept such words, and to "play" with the meaning and beauty of our own lives with flying rainbow ribbons.

<The Nine Fake Friendly Quotes

  1. I don't oppose homosexuality, and it's good that my children aren't.
  2. Female I can, male I can't.
  3. Homosexuality is no problem, but I can't accept sissies.
  4. I think transgender people are very brave, but still do not let children contact, children do not understand.
  5. Since you can like guys, don't go with girls, right?
  6. The asexual is not feeling the beauty of sex, really poor.
  7. If you have AIDS, take good care of yourself and do not go out, otherwise it is very dangerous for others
  8. I want to say that you can't have sex in a wheelchair, that's why I didn't share porn with you.
  9. It's good to be yourself, but girls still need to be more conservative.

In total, there are 9 large signs on the North-South route, representing the classic quotes of fake friendliness.

Second, collective creation - support a piece of heaven

To let everyone live in a space of freedom requires not only the efforts of many parties, the formulation of laws and regulations, the way of education, but also the re-establishment and adjustment of the atmosphere of the whole society, so the support of each and every one of you and me in the society is all the more important, just like

We sometimes walk in the rain pouring down the street, will always see no shelter passers-by, hastily shuttling back and forth to avoid the rain, then we hold the umbrella, is the only tool to protect them from getting wet.
Therefore, for this year's parade, we will use small paper umbrellas in six colors of the rainbow as our spiritual symbols, each representing the beautiful love and tolerance hidden in our hearts and appreciating the unique and beautiful individuals that surround us around the world. We invite you to "open" the small rainbow umbrella and create a space where everyone can be at ease.

L - for Lesbian
G- stands for Gay Men (Gay)
B- represents Bisexuals
T- stands for Transgender
